Train the Trainer – Workshop Facilitator Training

NJ Connect for Recovery, a program of the Mental Health Association in NJ, is hosting the annual facilitator training for the Family Education Workshops. The Workshops were created to assist individuals and family members who are coping with a substance use disorder. The six-hour training is designed for peers, family members, or individuals who have a basic understanding of addiction, opioids, treatment and recovery, and how to best support those in recovery and their loved ones.

Participants will learn group facilitation and presentation skills. The training includes a comprehensive Facilitator Training Guide which provides details of how to best implement each training session week-to-week.  Each participant will receive a manual that includes materials that can be reproduced for each session with handouts, strategies for exercises and group activities, PowerPoint presentations and more. The Family Workshop series is designed to be flexible to meet the need of any group or organization. NJ Connect for Recovery provides free ongoing consultation for the implementation and launching of the education series if needed.

Family members and peers who complete the Family Education Workshop training will be eligible to participate in a three-day Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), which provides an in-depth analysis of the model used for the Family Education Workshops. The CRAFT training will be conducted by Robert Meyer, co-developer of the CRAFT model. The CRAFT training is an excellent follow-up tool to help each Family Educator further develop his or her skills.

The Family Education Workshop Facilitator training is scheduled to be held in Toms River, Springfield and Mercer Council , with additional dates and locations to be announced. If interested, please register below:
